Since I first read it I returned a couple of times with great pleasure to the planet Winter in re-readings of the novel. Le Guin's famous 1969 novel The Left Hand of Darkness. Over the years I realized that I do not read science fiction for the science. The themes and setting in The Left Hand of Darkness are rife with meaning. It's 1970, and with this Hugo winner — Ursula K. Leguin-lefthand Like many great authors, Terry Brooks reads as much as he writes. Officially speaking, Sinister shares only a couple of producers with Insidious, but their bond goes much deeper than that. Le Guin (Bottom of TBR Pile Challenge). Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness — we finally got the ladies up in here! Le Guin's “The Left Hand of Darkness” is one of my all time favorite books. The prose is like a tightly wound ball of fine thread; worth teasing apart, but a single distraction or misplaced. The original novella was my first encounter with Le Guin's writing, before The Left Hand of Darkness and the Earthsea novels, which is where most people typically start with her work.
